fun and games at work

The company I work for is classified as 'entertainment industry' - the main business is the provision of pay-tv across Australia's regional and rural areas. BIG business with a large number of employees. We also provide internet and mobile phones, and that is where I mainly work, as a support person on the phones.

ausxmas4.jpgOur work area is on the 4th floor of a 5 storey building; our department is in a corner location with incredible views through floor to ceiling windows; with the mall and the lake and the panoramic hinterland.

The building is purpose built; our floor is one big open space, divided into seating areas called 'pods'. There is always something going on, as you can imagine, it's always lively and noisy, there are TV sets running our product scattered around the room, which operates from early morning until late night, 7 days a week.

Events are always celebrated with much fan-fare and Christmas gets the full treatment. We work in teams and competition between the teams to 'decorate' the team pod is fierce. I've been there for 6 years now, and the first time I saw the room all done up for Christmas I was speechless. They really go all-out and it's like working in a Santa grotto!

On Saturday I snuck in early before anybody else arrived and took some pictures:

Wow, those are some decorations! I took a photo of the tree we have in work/church but it looks kinda pathetic as the lights don't showup. Nothing to compare with those certainly!

Omigosh, I've never seen anything like it!!! I LOVE it!!! What a fabulous "competition" to have amongst the teams of workers:-) I can see why the ghotic one won, it's fabulous!!! Oh what fun!

Great decorations, Della...sounds like a fun workplace to be in! :) And that's the way it should be, I reckon!
