Today it came back, and this time I had the camera ready... shame about the weather, very overcast, almost raining - and the bird was really hard to distinguish from the ground and leaves around it.
But I got it - these pictures are good enough to see - how cute it is - so exciting - of course the first thing I did was send a picture to my daughter on her mobile phone, what a drama, first I have to send it to my own email, then email it to my mobile phone, save the picture and then send her a 'picture' message - but she got it okay and is just as excited as I am.
I am sure there will be more, scrubbie is STILL scratching away, cleaning up our dead leaves and working away at the nest, and today the baby joined him... but he doesn't stay away from his mound for more than a minute at a time, backwards and forwards, backwards and forwards, scratch - check the nest ... SO funny...
Home now till Thursday, hopefully it will rain all the time and I wont be able to go and work in the garden.

I hope it rains so that you can't work in the garden too, Della. I'm sure you need the rain same as nearly everyone else in this country.
Great shots of the little scrubbie. Much more photogenic than the three tiny, featherless blackbird babies in the jasmine by the back gate.
Cute little things aren't they! I saw my first one only earlier this year. The bigger ones are around all the time but I'd never seen a chick before this year.
I came across a quail here the other day...second time I've seen them up here. I wouldn't have thought they were here but obviously, I was wrong!
What a cute little thing ! I hope you will never eat it ! Since I am thinking about animals when I eat, I will become vegetarian. An unknown chicken ist OK, but I could never eat a cow (only the steak I mean) which I have known before !
Couldn't you sleep last night that you were still awoke ? It was 5 pm here when I got your comment. (My computer rings when an email is coming, which disturbes sleeping Pookie) I have put some Christmas trees from Waterloo on my photoblog. Yesterday I went at 7 am (!) downtown to take a picture of Brussel's Christmas tree ! But that's for tomorrow.
Della, that's a super post. Glad you could get the pictures.
Great Photos of the little scrub Turkeys della. merry Christmas
Aw, cute!
Awww he's adorable!! I can just imagine how excited you were when you saw him:-) Della, since I'll be on the road most of this week, I want to take this opportunity to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas!!! xoxo
What a cutie. And what a thrill it must be to watch the progress of this feathered family. If the mama bird is "Scrubbie" does that make the baby "Bubbie?"
Nature in its expression of new life is always a rare thrill to observe. What a cutey, new life in your very own environment, it’s as if we as the human family share in natures bounty –a rare treat for you at Christmas
A great posting!!
Just stopped by to wish you a happy and serene Christmas. From a lapsed blogger.
Gorgeous photos of that little sweetie!
Hi Della
Aren't the little scrubby chicks cute? We don't have any around here but when I was living in the city, we had heaps. Strange, huh!
Take care
Just came by to tell you that our suitcases are packed and Pookie sleeps in one. Tomorrow at 7 am we are off ! I am happy to escape this bad Belgian weather !
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
How cute is that baby. We have miniature quail chicks in our aviary at work, they are probably and inch high now at three weeks old. They are a big hit with the residents naturally.
Happy Christmas to you and fmaily.
Cheers Margaret
Fantastic to have birds like that hatching in your backyard Della, I'd be rapt if I had something like that!
All the best for Christmas and the New Year from an old blogger that turned sixty eleven and a half years ago. :-)
hey - we just had a couple of these if our garden too! Didn't know what they were - came across your site - thanks!
