Funny thing, life, it was the very next day (well, night really) that I met Anthony, who was to be husband No.2 - we met through a mutual friend, a female cousin of husband No.1 whose phone number I had with me in case of emergencies. I hadn't meant to use it as there were reasons I did not want my husband to know exactly where I was, but that's another story, from a far-off galaxy.
Short summary: I first met Anthony at a Boxing Day party; we met, we fell in 'love', we (eventually) married, we raised our children and lived happily ever after, until we agreed to part when our son was 16 and our daughter was 8 years old. The next few years were painful for all of us, but we got through - and today the relationship and friendship between all four of us remains strong, even though Anthony lives in New Zealand, Craig is in Sydney in New South Wales, Carlena is in Adelaide in South Australia, and I live on the Gold Coast in Queensland.
Lots of travel, and joyous reunions, whenever we gather for a family 'event'. Here we are at the Manly Food Festival, in Sydney the year grandaughter Angelina was born. Craig, with wife Amanda, Carlena with her friend Sharda, the back of Ant's head, and his 2nd wife Debra. I am the only one missing, but that's because I was taking the photo. [Click to see larger pic]Over the years I have given myself grief about the way things turned out, particularly for the kids, who were disrupted at an age that was not the best time - if ever there is a 'best' time - but amazingly enough, I have talked with both of them and they say the same thing, that they had a wonderful childhood, with lots of good memories, and they don't blame me or carry any chips - isn't that the best thing...
Anyway...

Noel and I are off for a four-day 'retreat'. We are going to stay at Calurla, a hide-away place we found last year.
View in the distance of Mount Warning which has a special significance to the Aboriginal people; Called "Wollumbin", people trek regularly to the summit looking for that elusive 'spiritual experience'

The views are fantastic, there are only 2 cabins and a cottage; the hosts Robert and Andrea are very welcoming and friendly. We get a breakfast hamper each day, there are full cooking facilities and everything we need is supplied.
Last time we travelled around a bit and saw the countryside, but it is a great place just to sit and get lost in the view, on the balcony with a book, or watching the antics and listening to the birds.
I have my better camera with me this time too - if the weather allows (it can get quite misty), I should get some great photos, reminds me, must take the tripod...
have a good week everybody and I'll see you all next week!...

Happy New Year to you and yours, dear Della! I'm so glad our paths crossed in this big wide world of blogging and I so look forward to future posts and comments:-) Hope you have a great time away, will look forward to hearing all about it once you're back!! Much love xoxo
Della, that chalet looks wonderful, I might keep that in mind for a future holiday.
Tell me, does your camera do a panorama? One of your photos looks like it. I have a new camara, a Kodak C875, which stitches together 2 or 3 photos. It's fun to play with, and I was wondering how it would look on the blog.
Hi Della
Enjoy your break and come back all refreshed for another year of blogging!
Cheers!

Della, kids are a lot stronger then we give them credit for. Glad that they have no chips.
Enjoy the break and post some pictures when you get back.
That looks like a beautiful place to get away to.
Hi Della, thanks for stoppin by my blog. I hope you had a fantastic Christmas and new year. The holiday place you're visiting looks amazing.
I'm envious, Della...that cabin is so 'me'! I could live there comfortably and happily forever and a day. I hope you have a wonderful time...you will. :)
From reading your posts over the past few months since I started blogging, I'm sure your children did have a wonderful childhood...hiccups and all...from what I can see they're are wonderful young men and women. :)
I've you hear someone wandering around out there on the deck late at night...don't worry..it will only be me! :)
Happy New Year!.. wow, I want to go there too!
I had a young friend thru the computer once, from Queensland. He was a sweetie and at one time sent me a cd of John Williamson from "down under"..I love his sing along music!! Especially "G'day, G'day" and Home Amoung the Gum Trees!! Do you know of him??
Mt Warning sounds delightful. I remember passing by many times when we went away on holidays from Kyogle as a youngster, then on to Brisbane(Petrie was where my Uncle then owned a Farm before resumed by the govt as a catchment area), later to Harvey Bay/ Fraser Island.
We also visited the area around where you are staying.
A very beautiful and spiritual a place to visit from which I trust you and Noel return refreshed.
I also agree with lees comments concerning your children
Sounds like the bloggers would like a sing along ………with True Blue JW---
Give me a home among the gum trees
With lots of plum trees
A sheep or two, a kangaroo
A clothes-line out the back
Veranda out the front
And an old rocking chair
You can see me in the kitchen
Cookin' up a roast
Or Vegemite on toast
Just you and me, a cup of tea
Later on we'll settle down
And mull up on the porch
And watch the possums play
best wishes
Beutiful photos glad had a great time. ( wish it was me)
I have seen a few cases of marriages that have ceased for one reason or another, the parents have been very grounded and united with the raisng of the children obviously as in your case.It is a shame there many acrimoniuos breakups which hurt and devistate so many.
Cheers Margaret
